The Kirtland Hornets
Our baseball team competes in Ohio Division 3 and the Chagrin Valley Conference (Valley Division).
Kirtland High School is located about 20 miles east of Cleveland, Ohio on State Route 306.
Over the past seven years we have had a great amount of baseball success, to go along with the school's state championship football program. In the these seasons we have compiled a record of 126-80, winning our first District Championship (2018), five CVC Valley Championships (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2019), the programs first 20 win season in 2014, the first #1 seed in the District tournament in school history in 2014, along with setting multiple team records.
The Hornets have won five sectional title in 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, finished district runner-up in 2015 & 2017, and won the District Championship in 2018 & 2019.
In this seven year span, we have had 34 first team All-Conference players, 22 second team All-Conference players, 16 honorable mention All-Conference players, 33 All-Lake County players, and 17 All-District players, 7 AP All-Ohioians, 4 Mizzuno All-Ohioians and 14 PBR All-Ohioians. In 2018 Senior, Mike Zeuli, was named Ohio Division 3 Player of the Year, News Herald Player of the Year, and Northeast Ohio Player of the Year. Coach Luke Smrdel was named Ohio Division 3 Coach of the Year as well in 2018.
